Any six points or sympathies cannot solve Balochistan issue, the only solution is freedom – Nawab Brahumdagh Khan Bugti

Baloch pro-independence leader and chief of Baloch Republican Party Nawab Brahumdagh Khan Bugti has said freedom of Balochistan is our goal and we are ready to talk to everyone on this one point agenda. Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s six points are meaningless. He expressed these views in a telephonic conversation with a private television channel last night.

Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti said Nawaz Sharif and Punjab consider Baloch nation as a threat to them and that is why they are trying to sympathize with Baloch people, however, they are not really concerned about the Baloch people. The cases of Baloch missing persons being heard in the Supreme Court of Pakistan are a mere drama because the illegal abduction, arbitrary detention and extra-judicial killings of Baloch youth have not only continued but also intensified. Pakistani media is playing a negative and one-sided role regarding Baloch struggle. Pakistani political parties and politicians are using the name of Balochistan for electoral purposes and personal gains.

Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti said the parliamentary system of Pakistan cannot be a solution of Balochistan because our elders participated in elections and struggled within the state but the results were very disappointing. Today, the situation is entirely different. The parliamentary system of Pakistan has the policy to keep the Baloch nation enslaved and deprived of its rights, Baloch people have no belief in it.

Talking about the visit of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, He said that Sardar Akhtar Mengal has visited Pakistan after receiving a green signal from the establishment and intelligence agencies of Pakistan. I have no contact with him however Nawabzada Hairbyar Marri and other pro-independence political leaders are in touch with me. We struggle for one point agenda of freedom of Balochistan. He said the six points of Akhtar Mengal are not the solution of Balochistan issue. There is no difference whether those points were presented by Akhtar Mengal, Talal Bugti or Dr. Malik Baloch. We respect the sacrifices of BNP activists but the return of Akhtar Mengal has showed that those were not for the greater goal of free Balochistan.

Baloch people have their own identity and country and they are paying sacrifices for it. Human Rights violations continue systematically and we receive the gifts of dead bodies every day. The sacrifices of Baloch martyrs will not go in vain. The international attention and the visit of United Nations working group are the fruition of the sacrifices of Baloch martyrs.

Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti said there is not a difference of single inch between him and Nawabzada Hairbyar Marri, we have common agenda and that is of freedom of Balochistan. He said if the state of Pakistan says that we do not represent the entire Baloch nation then it must allow a referendum under the supervision of United Nations and the result will reveal the truth whether Baloch nation want to live with Pakistan or want freedom.

He said that he has cleared his point of view about the Charter of Liberation. It was a mini-constitution for a free Balochistan which needs the opinion and approval of entire Baloch nation and a single individual cannot make it. The differences among us are of homely atmosphere & we have a common struggle and aim of freedom and there will be no compromise on that.

He said that we have never said no to the negotiations and a political solution of Balochistan issue but the only point we will negotiate on is freedom and if anyone expect us to give up the national struggle and salute the flag of Pakistan, this is not possible. We have separate ways of struggle from pro-parliament people. The present situations demand us to get rid of personal and tribal relations and interests and to struggle for the greater goal of freedom. Nawaz Sharif or nobody from Pakistan can solve our matters; we will have to solve them ourselves. How come a person from Punjab, that has been the occupier of Balochistan for more than 65 years, has suddenly become sympathizer of Baloch people? Forsooth, they have their own interests in Balochistan. They have been living and enjoying on resources of Balochistan, their existence depends on that. If Balochistan becomes independent, they will die of hunger.

Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti has categorically condemned the killings and threats to journalists in Balochistan. He said the state forces and intelligence agencies of Pakistan do not want the atrocities and Human Rights violations to be reported and that is why they are targeting journalists in Balochistan after creating no-go zones. Targeting journalists cannot be the work of Baloch freedom forces because it is against Baloch interests.

He said Baloch National Front (BNF) was a good platform but it did not succeed because of many differences. He continued that we are moving toward a new alliance and contacts have been made in this regards with pro-independence leaders including Nawab Khair Baksh Marri, Hairbyar Marri, Mehran Marri, Javed Mengal and others. He said Javed Mengal has to clear his position after the return of his brother Akhtar Mengal. He said Akhtar Mengal consulted the Supreme Court of Pakistan about Baloch missing persons who have no affiliation with him or his party. The families of missing persons have already tried all ways for the recovery of their loved ones and they have expressed their disbelief on the state and its institutions. He argued that when the Supreme Court is not trusted by its own (Pakistani) people then how we do while we are separate nation with a separate country.
