Qazi
Mohammed was from a prominent Mahabad family and was one of the greatest
Kurdish leaders of the 20th century, Qazi Mohammed was the essence of
Kurdish pride. He served as
a religious judge and was well known in the region as influential,
intelligent political person, in 1945 he was recruited as a member of
the Komala J-K which later he transformed to Kurdistan Democratic Party
in Iran, that proclaimed the Kurdish Republic of Mahabad and he became
the President of it til1946; He stood by his motherland when Iranian
troops raided the republic, the republic lasted for less than a year.
As a result, the
Shah of Iran hung Qazi Mohammed with his brother Sadr Qazi and their
cousin Seyf Qazi. For the
Kurds, he was the martyr who fought all the way to the end for freedom
and the founder of the Kurdish Republic of Mahabad, to the Iranianshe
was a rebel, for that, Qazi Mohammed, his brother and his cousin were
condemned todeath and later hanged
treacherously the morning of
March 31, 1947 in the city of Mahabad.
