Copper
deposits and copper mines in Baluchistan
There are large deposits of copper in Baluchistan. The homeland of Baluch people is among the most copper-rich countries. Copper deposits in Baluchistan is estimated over two billion and three hundred million (2300000000) tons, with a purity between six tenths (0.6) and one percent. The amount and weight of the copper deposits (Hudiyan, Espakka, Seyah Jangal, Tale seyah and Nouk Abad) has not been declared.
The weight of copper and copper ore deposits in seyahein dhekk and rekodhekk, more than one billion and four hundred million (1400 000 000) tonnes is estimated. Net copper is more than half a percent. The total weight of the copper deposits and copper ore are estimated at well over two billion two hundred million tons in Chagi district which is the world's largest copper reservers in the world. Copper from Seyahein dhekk (Saindak) in Baluchistan are being sold in the international market as Chinese copper! Because of copper from Baluchistan, China is the world's largest exporter of copper. Since 1970, China Metallurgical Company extracted Copper Mines in Chagi district of Baluchistan. They have simply taken the copper ore and stone from Basluchistan to their copper refineries in China via the Karakoram Road. Since 2003, the Chinese operators mined gold, copper and silver in Saindak- plant in Baluchistan. China Metallurgical Company, Barrick Gold Corporation, Antofagasta Minerals and Tethyan Copper of Australia has signed secret contracts with the central government in Islamabad and the Pakistani army on the copper deposits in Baluchistan. Contract was made between General Musharraf and Chinese authorities in November 2003 to sell copper and gold mines in Seyahein dhekk (Saindak) to the Chinese state companies for a period of 10 years. Same-General and his Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz sold gold and copper deposits in Rekodhekk in Chagi district to Barrick Gold Corporation, Antofagasta Minerals and Tethyan Copper of Australia in 2006! Baluch people and their legitimate rights over natural resources in Baluchistan is completely overlooked.
Copper deposits in western Baluchistan in Lar mount and around Taptan mountain is controlled by the central government in Iran and companies that are related to the Sepah e Pasdaran. The autorities in Iran have repeatedly announced that they have discovered copper deposits in Baluchistan, which has been known for 100 years ago. The first contract for production of copper in Baluchistan was signed between the colonial forces of Britain, and tribal leaders in Sarhad at the beginning of the twentieth century. The Iranian government and non-baluchi investors have started to outsource copper deposits in Koh E Lar and Chehel Koor e, located in the Western Baluchistan.
Mining of natural resources and minerals of Baluchistan shows that neither Pakistanian nor Iranian central governments respect baluch people's rights over natural resources in Baluchistan, their own homeland. Investors from Persia, Panjab, China, Canada, Ausdtralia, Chile, UK, India and Afghanistan who have been given permission by the Iranians and Pakistanian governments to exploit the riches in Baluchistan do not respect international law and ignoring Baluch people's legitimate rights completely.
